Very nice color drawings of WW II German panzers The let ...

Very nice color drawings of WW II German panzers The let down is that it is only the drawings. I had hoped for more indepth coverage and at least some photos that the drawings represented. If you are looking for color pictures of your favorite panzer this book will fit the bill. If you want more look elsewhere.

Not what I had hoped for

Pretty disappointing. This book offers nothing new or of much interest. There is a single page of text giving a general overview of paints--too general to be of any interest to me. There is a page with a chart showing years when paints came into use and some color patterns. Again, nothing new. There are 41 pages dating from 1918 ( a single A7V) to the end of the war--most during the war years. Each of these pages show a single vehicle from the left-side only with a unit designation at the bottom. On the plus side, the drawings are nicely detailed and come on good quality, glossy paper.

From 1917 to 1945

In tank to tank combat the first tank that spots an enemy tank is usually the winner. As a result virtually all armies paint their tanks is camouflage to attempt to buy a few critical seconds of time. The Germans seemed to have changed their camouflage paint scheme for every different campaign and with every different model. The author of this book has been fascinated with these paint schemes and being a computer artist he has prepared drawings that carefully depict these patterns. It begins with World War I and the German A7V, the big box like tank that came out in response to the British tanks. It then goes through until the King Tiger from the end of World War II.
