Occult fiction at its best, in a modern setting.

I first read this book simply because I have enjoyed all of Katherine Kurtz's other works to date. As soon as I had finished it I wanted another one. Kurtz and Harris write a plausible occult novel that is set in a modern day Scotland. I do hope that ours is not like it or that if it is that there are really Hunting Lodges such as that described in the book to help protect people from the Dark side of humanity. As one would expect, the characters are both believable and interesting. You really care what happens to them and want to know more. Fortunately for us they have acceded to our wishes and there are now four books in the series with a fifth one on the way. If you're like me and look for good series to read you won't want to pass up on this one. But even if you're not into reading series you'll enjoy this book. It is both exciting and intriguing

The publisher contacted me through my review on another site and made available a clean Kindle version of both this e-book and the sequel. My complaint has been resolved, and I am very satisfied with how this was handled. I've given the book the five star rating I think the narrative deserves. I appreciate it when responsiblity is taken and reasonable recompense made.

I read this book in paperback more than once. When I wanted to read it again I discovered that my copy was gone. Well, let's see if it's available for Kindle. I was so surprised and delighted to find that it was; I could get it and start reading it right away!

I'm rather wishing I hadn't, now. Random punctuation marks. Frequent typos. Text that skips half a line, then drops down. NONE of these things were in the paperback edition. I'm so disgusted at how one of my favorite novels has been mangled. The authors should be outraged. The publisher should be outraged and demand a cleaned up, updated copy be made available. Unless the publisher is responsible for this edition being so bad, in which case they should be ashamed, and should make available a cleaned up copy.

Astonishingly gripping read!

Fantasy fiction generally holds very little of interest for me, but this book is mesmerizing. It's well written, very well researched, and accurate in its descriptions of Scottish sites. The main characters are human and intelligent enough to make me read all five installments written thus far and hope for more.

About the Author
Ken Rideout has a B.S. in Honors Physics from Purdue University and an M.S. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. He has been teaching high school physics for more than twelve years in the Boston area and is currently the science department head at Wayland High School in Wayland, MA.

Jonathan Wolf has been teaching physics at both the secondary school and college levels for more than 33 years, and has also been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Astronomy at Hofstra University. He has published over forty professional papers in the fields of Astronomy, Physics, and Physics Education and served for more than ten years as Assistant Editor for The Science Teachers Bulletin published by the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS). In addition to being the author of Barron’s AP Physics B, he is also the author of Barron’s College Review: Physics and previously was co-author of Barron’s SAT subject Test in Physics.

Needs editing, BIG TIME

I haven't gone through the entire portion for AP Physics I yet, but this book has SEVERAL mistakes in it's answers and sample problems.

For example: Use the work found in Sample Problem 2 (-12J) to find the Power in 4s. It did a process of 2 J / 4s= 0.5 Watts. the displacement was 2m, and it used the displacement value for the work value...?

It's very difficult to study efficiently when I'm constantly getting confused with the process the book gives me for a problem.

Typos and Errors galore

I bought this book just for the AP physics 1 test, and quickly reviewed all of the essential chapters. When comparing to my friends "5 steps to 5" book, this 'Study Book' completely skipped over essentials and provided almost no information for certain subjects, such as rotational Inertia, Angular trajectory, Voltmeters and Anemometers, and standing waves. It mentioned what these topics were, but did not help me understand any of them and expected me to already know this information. To top it off, many examples and questions in the Practice test were filled with miscalculations or straight out wrong, completely throwing out all the physics formulas learned while not explaining how they did it (One example is question 24 Pretest 1 AP 1). I strongly recommend that you don't purchase this book, and go for 5 steps to 5 or another decent brand. If you don't believe me, fine, but that'll be your loss of money when you realize how bad this book really is.

AP PHYSICS STUDENTS!
Do NOT purchase this book. The book appears to be written by people who do not understand physics. At all. Many of the solutions are conspicuously incorrect, and the answers aren't even consistent with the questions. For example, in one question, the velocity given is 5 m/s, and in the answer, the velocity is 2.5 m/s. Such mistakes are repeated throughout the book. Some of the questions are based on impossible scenarios as well. For example, in one situation, the book asks for the acceleration of the block up the incline when applied force is much less than the parallel force, so the block is moving down the incline. In another situation, the work done by an object is negative when there is no direction change or reason for the work to be negative. The authors clearly just tried to pull out random numbers and plug them into equations, not understanding that physics is a subject related to applying math to real world scenarios. This is key, for the book fails to provide real world problems that are physically possible.

If you are dismissing this review under the assumption that Barron's surely knows better than this questionable student who may not have mastery of the material, don't. I'm at the top of my AP Physics class and received a 98% on our cumulative midterm that covers Physics 1 and Physics 2 topics. My teacher also had an approximately 90% pass rate last year on the AP Physics B exam. I am a credible source.

I couldn't recommend it more highly!

This book from my wonderful friend Pat Schatzline is an absolute must-read for EVERYONE! This book is God 101. Pat writes as he preaches, backing up profound statements with scripture, and observations with proven facts. This book is an introduction to the true God. For many who have served Him without ever really understanding Him, get ready to have your heart opened to a God who is for you, and wants to prove His love for you with every action. I was personally challenged to be a more compassionate leader while reading the pages of this book, realizing the tremendous compassion that my wonderful Heavenly Father has in leading and teaching me. This book is an absolute necessity for every person to read-whether you have been serving God for 45 minutes or 45 years. I promise you that this book will teach you something you didn't know, and encourage you in your Christian life.

Powerful & Needed

Pat Schatzline has written a book that confronts the greatest lie that many people have taken as truth, that is that God is mad at them. This is a powerful book from cover to cover and is filled with personal stories from Pat's life that the reader can connect with as he carefully articulates the reality of God's great love. One cannot read this book without encountering the love of God. I have been blessed by it and strongly encourage every pastor and leader in the church today to make this book a part of his or her personal library.

I am a Spirit filled christian, however, I use to be an involved Church member.
For years I never thought I could ever meet the Church standards. Condemnation was all
I heard at the podium so I worked harder volunteered for everything...BUT when I met Jesus my whole life changed!
I believed the LIE no more......Mercy and Grace took over. Pat's words of Truth helped me get a firm perspective
