About the Author
CPT Kind wasn't always a physical fitness expert. Before he got into ROTC, he had been bedridden with an illness for a year and couldn't even climb two steps at one time. After being in ROTC for one month, Cadet Kind took his first PT test and failed it! His total score was a 178 with a run time of 18 minutes 3 seconds and only 45 push-ups and 58 sit-ups performed. Cadet Kind then devised a work out plan based on his prior weight lifting experience and sports playing years in high school. Within a few months, he earned his first perfect score of 300. From then on, his scores increased until he consistently scored on the extended scale in the 360's and 370's with run times in the low 11's and push-ups and sit-ups in the 120+ repetition range in 2 minutes became the norm. If CPT Kind could increase his score over 200 points, so can you! Follow this plan and if you are motivated enough, you will even score in the 400 range.

From Dud to Stud....small book, tons of info

"Max Out" is small, concise but packed with useful techniques and information. Written by an Army Officer who failed his first PT test and went on to "max out" with over 300 points on the PT test.

The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) is comprised of three elements; 2 minutes of push-ups, 2 minutes of sit-ups and a 2 mile run. A passing score is 180 points, 60 points for each category. A Max score is 300 or 100 points for each category. The author typically scores 360-370 points! He performs 120 push-ups and sit-ups and the run in the low 11 minutes! My Commander can do just over 100 push-ups in 2 minutes and he is a freakin' Infantry STUD, I can't even wrap my brain around 120!

I am a Recruiter and in the public eye every day. One requirement to keep my job is to pass the APFT. My First Sergeant EXPECTS a score of 230 or better. Using tips and tricks from fellow soldiers I typically score 250. Using these techniques will put me over 300!

What I love about the book: it launches right into the information, no fluff. "This is what you need to do, this is how you do it, now get to it!" I LOVE IT! Takes literally minutes to read through it but packed with KEY information to get you to the top as quickly as possible without injury.

The book is small enough to carry with you when you PT at a Gym or ball field, yet the techniques can be practiced at home! Buy it.

Straight up, this book works. I was already scoring in the 300's but bought the book anyway to find ways to maintain my performance. His method for increasing push-ups is especially helpful. I was able to increase from 90 to 112 in just a few weeks. Also, in the back of the book he lists some tricks that he does before a PT Test. I found those extremely helpful as well on my last PT Test. Pick it up if you care about your PT and you want to go beyond excellence in your performance.

Simple is best!

If you are like me then you are tired of reading military fitness books only to be overwhelmed with exercises that not only have you never heard of before, but can also be quiet dangerous to even an experienced fitness enthusiast. While this book may seem small and simple, it really is all you need. Especially since all basic military fitness tests revolve around 3-4 exercises: running, push-ups, situps, and for the USMC pullups. Many books focus on complex gym work-outs for improvement, however the best way to get better at the basics is to simply do them. I have followed this book now for 2 months and the results are staggering. I have tested it against those that felt they were in great shape on base and it left them awe struck by how tried they were after the book's recommended workout. No matter which service you are in, or intend to join this book will help you.
